Sewing Machine I recommend BERNINA or Bernette. Basic Sewing Tools. For Non-Scrappy Bib Add: 1 piece Fabric 11" x 16" for Bib Front. Prep Sort through your scraps until you find pieces in colors and print that coordinate with each other.

Print out and assemble the Bib Pattern Piece. Cut it out. Layer the 11" x 16" piece of batting and the bib back pieces together; the batting should be on the wrong side of the fabric. Trace the bib shape onto the batting. It does not need to be exact; you just need to know how much of the batting you need to cover with fabric.

Cut one scrap approx. Quilting Begin by placing your first fabric scrap onto your bib piece. You can place it anywhere on the bib that you'd like. Do not cut the thread in between lines. Instead, pivot the fabric, sew a ¼", then continue sewing another line.

You want to minimize how many thread cuts you have on the project since the quilting will show on the back of the bib. Cut a second scrap of fabric the same width as the first scrap. Stitch it in place with a ¼" seam allowance. Flip the piece right side up, press in place, and add stitching lines using the same method you used for the 1st scrap.

Keep adding scraps using this method. If you find that you need longer scraps the strips will get longer as you add more scraps to the bib , you can sew two scraps together before adding them to the bib.

Pin your fabric together and using your front fabric as a guide cut your backing fabric to match. Sew around the edge of the bib but stop a few inches before you come back to where you began. You want to leave a small opening so that you can turn your bib right side out.

Where you want to leave the gap is up to you. Attach a way to close the bib. You can sew on velcro or you can attach snaps depending on your preference. Personally I like snaps, but choose what you like. I attach the snaps using a fastener tool and a hammer.

As with all baby accessories please wear the bibs with care—use only on a child under supervision and never leave one on a sleeping baby. I like to make a few coordinating baby items so often times I make burp cloths and a blanket to complete a gift set.

You will need: fabric for the front of the bib fabric for the back of the bib I like to use something absorbent, like terry cloth thread sewing machine unless you want to do it by hand pins velcro or snaps to close the bib Snap Fastener tool if you elect to use snaps scissors or a rotary cutter and mat First up here is the Pattern that I use to make my bibs: Click here to open the PDF.

To build up the layers ready to sew, place a piece of fleece down first, then put the topping fabric right side down on top. This means that the fabric pieces have their right sides together. Pin the layer pieces together.

marked with pins. Trim diagonally near the corners. I also like to trim my seam allowances down a little everywhere except where the turning opening is. Turn the whole thing inside out so that the right side of the fabrics are now on the outside.

Push out the corners using a pencil or point turner. And give the whole thing a press. This closes the opening gap left by turning the bib the right way out, and gives the finished bib a more professional finish.

Finally, add a kam snap fastening or piece of sew-in velcro to either end of the longest side of the triangle. This is used to fasten the bib.

If the resulting bib is too large and you need to use it on a smaller baby, you can also add a second set of fastenings a little way in on the longest edge. As usual, I like to batch cut and make several of these at the same time for speed.

You will soon have a whole load of these to keep, gift or sell! Now you know how to make a bib, you can make these in a variety of colours. And should you want the bandana bib to be bigger, you just need to size up the bib pattern, making a larger length to each side of the triangle.

You can make them for older children or even use them as bandanas for dogs! Do you think that now I have shown you how to make these easy baby bibs that you will give them a go?

I want you to be able to make your own baby bandana bibs so I designed my own pattern for you to use. I've drafted quite a few bibs before I was happy about the design.

Scroll down to Step 1 to download the best bandana bib pattern I've drafted so far - works great with any material! You can use scraps! You only need two pieces that will each cover a lettersize or A4 page format, no more even a bit less, if you check out the free PDF pattern.

I often use scraps of cute kid-themed fabrics. There are more fabric tips at the end of this post, but in short, you can either choose two contrasting pieces of cotton, or one in cotton plus one super absorbent layer for backing, like terry cloth.

Upcycled fabric, as long as it's absorbent, will work fine too. The small-size baby bib has a neck circumference of 11 ½" or 29 cm.

The large-size bib has a neck circumference of 13" or 33 cm. And now the text instructions to make this reversible bandana bib:. Get the template from the shop here - it's absolutely FREE! If you haven't installed KAM snaps before, here's an easy tutorial for you - also, see what KAM snap size I use and why :. And here are even more tips to make the bandana bib pattern work for you - better, easier, and quicker!

The softest version I've ever made was from two layers of jersey. Just make sure the jersey is not too thin.

Bandana bibs can be fastened using a hammer-on or hand-sewn metal snap, a plastic snap, pieces of Velcro - and let's not forget the good old buttons.

Sometimes, they would also simply be tied off, but that causes a large knot that's not too comfortable for babies, so I'm leaving that one out 🙂. What do I use to make bandana bibs? I used to make them with nearly all the above options.

But then I discovered KAM snaps. I absolutely love KAM snaps. For several reasons: one, adding KAM snaps is so easy! They come in a gazillion of colors, so you can mix and match to your heart's content.

They are inexpensive. And they are so comfortable for the baby. No Velcro scratching that little neck! This way, the large bib will fit several sizes - baby, toddler, and even older kids. I've done it before and it has worked perfectly! This bandana bib pattern is quite simple and easy to make.

It will be made in no time and save you some money along the way. Who knows, you might just create an all-time favorite bib for your baby or toddler!
